How to respond to people that make suggestive remarks at a beauty salon?

by admin on June 14, 2011

I work in a beauty salon and I sometimes get clients making suggestive remarks. Like, some guys who come in for a back, sack & crack wax seem to think it should include me giving them a handjob. Some people (of both sexes) getting a treatment where they have to be undressed suggest that I should strip off as well.

I’m usually just refuse and get on with the beauty treatment in a businesslike way, but I’m not sure if that’s the best response. Should I say something witty or mocking and try to make a joke of it? Should I just ask them to leave?

I take it you have good looks, but what concerns me is you say" usually you just refuse" Does this mean that it has happened before. If so then maybe that is why they are making these remarks.
All in All you are a Paraprofessional, If you would like to be treated like one then let them know that your beauty salon isn’t the "Love Shack".
I hope you get what you want!

The way you are handling is a very good way….many people when you may a come back to their remarks, think you are agreeing with them, and will tend to get even worse…

How in the world can a man getting his sack waxed even think of a hand job???

Getting my eye brows down hurts so bad I am turned off….can’t imagine a sack wax.

I would certainly ask them to leave if they’re suggesting you should give them a hand job. They need to be shown that that behavior is inappropriate.
